I. Activate Zoom in Canvas
Before beginning, please ensure that you have successfully set up Zoom in your desired Canvas course. This can be accomplished by reviewing the following guide: Activate Zoom in Canvas
II. Schedule with Zoom
Once Zoom is activated for your Canvas course, you can begin scheduling meetings.
To begin this process, please refer to the guide Schedule a Zoom Meeting in Canvas
Keep in Mind…
A single Zoom meeting is a one-time online gathering that takes place on the Zoom platform. It is scheduled for a specific date and time and is not a recurring event.
A recurring Zoom meeting is a series of scheduled online gatherings that happen regularly at set dates and times. Instead of creating a new meeting each time, you establish the meeting details once and repeat them according to a predefined schedule, allowing participants to join the same meeting repeatedly.
Noteworthy Settings - Recording Automatically
To record automatically in Zoom means that the recording of your meeting will begin as soon as the meeting starts, without the need for manual intervention.
Pro: This feature eliminates the requirement for the host or participants to remember to start the recording manually, ensuring that the entire meeting is captured without any potential oversights.
Con: Editing may be needed after recording the video.
III. Preparing & Instructing the Class
Creating meetings in Zoom within Canvas adds the meetings to your students’ To-Do list and their Canvas calendar and your Canvas Calendar.
The following information has some helpful Zoom meeting guides and a recommended order of events to help you prepare for a Zoom instruction.

Processing
What Zoom does: Zooms processes the video based on the length of the video and sends you a link to recording to your Le Moyne email account.
What Kaltura does: As soon as you receive an email from Zoom indicating your recording is available, the video will automatically appear in My Media link of your Canvas course. Please navigate to My Media link on your Canvas course to access the recording. Please review the guide below to learn to publish the videos to your course for your students to access the recordings.
What Canvas does: Canvas just acts as a secure medium so that Kaltura and Zoom can communicate which enables the Zoom meeting recorded to the cloud to appear in Kaltura’s My Media.
