Panorama FAQs

What accessibility score should I aim for?

When remediating your documentation, you should be aiming for an accessibility score of 100%. You can see this score in your accessibility report on Panorama. Continue to fix the issues mentioned in the report until your document reaches a score of 100%.

Why do I have to make these changes?

These changes for accessibility are necessitated by recent changes to federal regulations. See this document for more information.

What do I need to edit a PDF?

You will need Adobe Acrobat in order to edit a PDF. In some cases, you may also need VMWare or AJApps in order to access/install Adobe Acrobat.

If Adobe Acrobat is Installed, either…

  • Open the application, and navigate your computer to open the PDF through the app

  • When viewing your PDF in your computer’s files, right-click the PDF and select Open With > Adobe Acrobat. You may also choose to use Adobe Acrobat by default for all PDFs

If Adobe Acrobat is Not Installed…

  • If using a Le Moyne device…

    • Navigate to AJApps

    • Search for Adobe Acrobat, and install it

  • If using a Personal Device…

    • In order to access AJApps on a personal device, you will need to use VMWare. For help using VMWare on your personal device, see the below self-help guides:

  • If you encounter any issues during this process, please submit a ticket through the IT Service Desk here

  3. Once complete, save and exit Adobe Acrobat and reupload your PDF to Panorama to continue remediation.

  4. Save and Exit Adobe Acrobat, then reupload your PDF to Panorama for further remediation.

How do I fix accessibility on an .html file?

In the instance that you find a .html page being flagged for needed remediation on Canvas, do not attempt to remediate it in Panorama. Doing so will lead to numerous changes to your page that will likely prevent it from functioning properly. In these cases, please fill out the form here.

My image requires an alternative description

If your document contains images, you will need to input alternative image descriptions for each one. This is done for screen readers, so they can know how to describe an image as they come across it. Using Panorama, you will be able to type the description in for each image. You must input a description on each image, and the description should be a brief summary of what the image depicts.

How do I know what to change if I’m not using Canvas?

In the instance that you have documentation being used outside of Canvas, and therefore not within the access of Panorama, you can verify it’s accessibility using a tool called Wave.

  1. Navigate to this website

  2. In the WAVE Browser Extensions box, click the link

  3. Choose the Google Chrome link

  4. Follow the shown instructions to add the WAVE Evaluation Tool extension to your browser

Now that you’ve added the extension, you can check the accessibility of any webpage:

  1. On a webpage open in Chrome, click the puzzle piece icon (shown below)

  1. Click the WAVE Extension Tool

  2. You will then see a WAVE sidebar to the left, as well as indicators on the page showing the various accessibility issues.
