Turnitin Releases AI Writing Detection in Assignments

The plagiarism detection service, Turnitin, has released an AI writing detector. Turnitin has reported that the AI Detection tool can identify 97% of ChatGPT and GPT3 authored writing, with a less than 1/100 false positive rate. This feature is now available and operates within the existing Turnitin workflow, so that educators can analyze content and use feedback tools in the same user experience they have today.

Please note: To use the AI Detection with an assignment in Canvas, instructors will need to create a TurnItIn Assignment within their Canvas courses.
