Registrar’s Official Statement
January 19th, 2023 - Campus Announcement
Students are now able to update their personal identity, including preferred pronouns, chosen names, and gender identities, by going to their user profile in Phinfo. They are no longer required to visit offices, fill out lengthy paperwork, potentially "out" themselves, or have awkward conversations with faculty just to be referred to properly with respect to their identity. This could range from a student changing their first name from "Katherine" to "Katie" or a completely different name that better reflects their gender identity.
When a student completes a change to their chosen name and/or preferred pronoun, it will update in Phinfo, rosters, grading, advising documentation, etc. Faculty and staff across the College are encouraged to support an inclusive environment with our students in and outside of the classroom by referring to them appropriately using these preferences.
