These instructions are intended for use with Windows computers. The steps should not vary too largely between devices, but please contact the IT Service Desk if you are using a computer that is not running Windows and need further assistanceThe following instructions are the recommended method to “save” your rubrics built in Canvas. Canvas does not currently have an export rubric feature. Because of this, the quality of these “saved” PDFs may vary.

  1. Go into Canvas, and click on the course and assignment for the rubric you would like to use.

  2. Starting at the top of the rubric, right before the first letter in either the title or the criteria, click and hold with your mouse.

  3. As you are clicking and holding, drag your mouse all the way to the bottom of the rubric, after the final digital in the Total Points section at the bottom left of the rubric. The rubric’s text should then be highlighted in blue.

  4. Once the rubric is highlighted blue, on your keyboard click Ctrl + P. You should then see the Print Menu open up.

  5. Once the Print Menu is open, you will see the entire web page in a PDF printable format. We don’t need the whole Canvas page, so make Make sure in the print settings you have the following options selected:

    1. Pages: All

    2. Layout: Landscape

      1. After the layout, you will need to open More Settings to proceed with this list

    3. Paper size: Letter

    4. Pages per sheet: 1

    5. Margins: Default

    6. Scale: Default

    7. Options:

      1. Headers and Footers and Background graphics are optional, this depends on your preference

      2. Selection only should be checked, so you only see the rubric

Tip

Once you have all of your Print settings selected, click the blue Save button, and you can then save the rubric as a PDF to your computer!
