That is true. These are questions we receive from the Le Moyne community. The official Zoom FAQs are here:

There are a multitude of ways to share a Zoom invitation. We’re advising teachers who use Canvas to post the invitation right in their course shell, either as the Front Page or as an Announcement. Here’s a sample that you can simply copy and paste.
First, check your participant list in Zoom. They may be stranded in the Waiting Room waiting for you to admit them. If not, they should be coached to immediately call the service desk and be prepared to read them the error message they are receiving. The Service Desk telephone number is 315-445-4579.
click Share Screen
at the top of the new window choose Advanced
choose Portion of Screen
the shared area of the screen is inside of the yellow box
move the box to the desired portion of the screen
Similar to what would happen in a physical classroom, students would be evenly distributed with the remaining students added to rooms as extra. Example: 14 students to be distributed into four groups, two of the groups would have 4 participants while the other two groups would only have 3 participants.
Yes, when you first start sharing you’re prompted to select what will be shared. You can choose to share your entire Desktop or any open applications including browsers, presentations, etc. Note that if you’re sharing video or audio that you should indicate that via the checkboxes under the share screen.
Zoom chat messages can be sent to Everyone or privately to an individual. In the case of private messages, only the sender and recipient can see the messages while in the meeting.
Yes, if you’ve opened the chat window.
No.
You can use the Gallery view to proctor as long as you’re not trying to use LockDown Browser simultaneously.
The ability of participants to record within Zoom is already set to "only with host permission". So, when a student tries to record, then you would receive a pop-up requesting permission to record. Learn more.
For faculty who want to limit recording by students:
Provide an announcement to class with policy and consequences for not declaring permission, and enforce it
Discuss privacy and trust concerns with students
Disable join before host (deny/do not make participants as hosts without agreement of behavior)
Never grant students permission to record (default settings requires student to request permission, and permission can only be granted by Host role)
Disable recording as needed (currently an all-on, all-off setting for both hosts and participants with granularity by role)
Watch webcams for other devices pointed at participants' laptop or screens
