Importing existing Kaltura Media Galleries into your new Canvas course

Please note, importing/copying Canvas course content into a new Canvas course from an existing course will not import/copy existing Kaltura Media Galleries.

Please follow the instructions below to import your old Canvas course Media Galleries into your new Canvas course.

  1. Contact the IT service desk and them to have your course name modified to include the semester name in the course title. When you contact the service desk, include the course name and the semester it was taught from which you would like to copy the Media Gallery into the new course.

  2. Once you receive a confirmation that the course name has been modified, you can go to your new Canvas course and click on Media Gallery. Click the Media Gallery menu button (three horizontal bars icon aka hamburger icon) on the top right corner and select Import.

  3. Scroll down and select the old Canvas course that you renamed in step 1. Click on the course name and click Import.

  4. All your existing Media Gallery items including playlist should import into your new Canvas course. The Channel Import feature supports the ability to import playlists, only if there are 10 or less playlists in the channel.
