How do I turn on Google Assignments for a Canvas assignment?
To turn on Google Assignments for your Canvas assignment, you will need to create a new assignment as an external tool.
“Turning on” Google Assignments for your Canvas assignment does not enable the feature for all course assignments. You will need to perform the actions in How do I turn on Google Assignments for a Canvas assignment? and How do I build a Google Assignment with Canvas? for each assignment you wish to use this feature with.
Turn on Google Assignments
Navigate to the course you would like to turn Google Assignments on with.
Once in the course, click the Assignments button on the left side of the page.
On the Assignments page, click the blue + Assignment button.
You should now be on the editing page of your new assignment.
Scroll down the page until you see the Submission Type section for your assignment.
7. In the Submission Type box, click the tabbed bar that says Online. When the dropdown menu appears, select External Tool.
8. The Submission Type box should now expand with new options. Click the Find button to proceed.
9. After clicking Find, the Configure External Tool window will open. Scroll through the list until you see Google Assignments (LTI 1.3), then click the blue magnifying glass next to the option.
10. For first-time use, a window will open titled Link Resource from External Tool and say Google Assignments. This window is verifying that you are using the email account associated with your Canvas. If you are logged in with the correct email, click the blue Link button.
If you are not logged in correctly, please click switch account, and log in with your Le Moyne credentials.
11. After linking your account, you will once again be shown a window with information and confirming your Google Account. Click the blue Link button again.
a. If you have signed in before, the blue Link button will be replaced by a blue Continue button.
